Salesforce is bringing chat functions to Slack, Einstein AI or Einstein GPT, and other platforms by integrating OpenAI’s ChatGPT generative AI model.
ChatGPT broke the web’s fastest-growing user base record in February 2023, and now Salesforce, the global customer relationship management company, is joining the likes of Starbucks, Lyft, Mastercard, and, most recently, Microsoft and HubSpot in deploying chatbot artificial intelligence capabilities.
By combining OpenAI’s chat juggernaut with its own Einstein AI data-crunching machine, Salesforce intends to add the magic of massive language generative models to its portfolio of sales, marketing, and communications platforms. The final blend is known as Einstein GPT; however, the company has not stated when it would be available for purchase.
According to Salesforce, Einstein GPT will “infuse Salesforce’s proprietary AI models with generative AI technology from an ecosystem of partners and real-time data from the Salesforce Data Cloud, which ingests, harmonizes, and unifies all of a company’s customer data,” making it the world’s first generative AI CRM technology.

How Einstein GPT will be used to power CRM, sales, and development
Salesforce keeps humans involved in the AI process.
From GPT to AI
Einstein AI, which debuted in 2016, is a system that automates business operations through the use of machine learning, image processing, and natural language. According to Salesforce, it processes 200 billion AI-powered predictions per day to help customers do things like analyze email conversations to optimize sales and CRM communications.
To put it simply, Einstein will not only think but also act in real time with GPT. According to the corporation, the technology retrieves real-time data from the Salesforce Data Cloud, a storehouse of client data. Users may then connect that data to OpenAI’s advanced AI models or use their own model with natural-language prompts straight within their Salesforce CRM to generate content that adapts on the fly based on changing client information.
Einstein GPT will automate CRM chores while also improving customer strategy.
Sanina Parulekar, senior director of product marketing at Salesforce, stated during the Salesforce TrailblazerDX 2023 Innovation Preview on Tuesday, March 7, that Einstein GPT will blend data from publicly available and private sources to train models with CRM data. Einstein GPT will be able to create AI-generated content for Slack, sales, service, marketing, commerce, and IT using this data

“When we released Einstein AI in 2016, it was the first generation of AI for CRM and introduced AI to thousands of enterprises, making it highly relatable for any business,” added Parulekar. “Today, sixty percent of IT leaders want to adopt generative AI.”
How Einstein GPT will be used to power CRM, sales, and development
According to Salesforce, ChatGPT capabilities will enable Einstein GPT to have applications for the following:
Sales: Automating sales duties such as email composition, meeting scheduling, and customer engagement preparation.
Service: Creating knowledge articles from previous case notes in order to auto-generate customised agent chat replies in order to boost customer satisfaction through personalized and quicker service engagements.
Marketing: Creating tailored information on the fly to engage consumers and prospects via email, mobile, online, and advertising.
Slack apps: Providing AI-powered customer insights, such as smart summaries of sales possibilities, and revealing end users’ actions, such as updating knowledge articles, in Slack.
Developers: Increasing developer productivity with Salesforce Research’s patented Big Language Model by generating code and asking inquiries in languages such as Apex utilizing an AI chat assistant
“With the rise of real-time technology and generative AI, the world is undergoing one of the most dramatic technological transformations,” said Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, in a statement. “This comes at a critical juncture, when every organization is focused on communicating with its customers in more intelligent, automated, and personalized ways.
“Einstein GPT, in conjunction with our Data Cloud and integrated in all of our clouds, as well as Tableau, MuleSoft, and Slack, is yet another way we are opening the door to the AI future for all of our clients, and we will be integrating with OpenAI at launch.”
Clara Shih, executive vice president and general manager of Salesforce Service Cloud, stated that the integration of ChatGPT with Einstein AI was accelerated with the help of Salesforce’s Office of Ethical and Humane Use of Technology in order to put ethical, anti-bias guardrails around the generative framework. Shih went on to say that Einstein GPT is based on Hyperforce, Salesforce’s secure public cloud, which the business is expanding throughout the European market (Figure

Shih also stated that the Salesforce generative AI products would not be run without human supervision.
“We created Einstein GPT with a human in the loop who has the ultimate word and can make modifications on what generative AI develops,” Shih explained.
Salesforce Ventures, the company’s worldwide investment fund, is also launching an AI startup fund dubbed Generative AI Fund. The $250 million will be used to invest in high-potential startups, strengthen the ecosystem, and accelerate the development of responsible, trustworthy, and generative AI.
